cCHALLENGE is an effective and fun tool to create transformations to sustainability. It engages the most powerful solution to climate change that exists -- people.

When we say that the key to a sustainable future lies in people, we're not talking about forcing people to change their behaviors and habits. First of all, that never works! Second of all, it often creates even more resistance.

No, the real transformation happens when people recognize that they are part of something bigger. History shows us that collective movements are always energized by small, positive changes that create ripple effects over time.

Professor Karen O'Brien, a world-leading researcher on climate change and transformations to sustainability, created cCHALLENGE to show people they matter more than they think when it comes to solving our sustainability and climate change challenges.

In cCHALLENGE participants are encouraged to experiment with just one sustainability-related change for 30-days. During that time, they receive information and insights into change and reflect on and share their experiences.

By approaching change as an experiment, we start to question our assumptions, habits and loyalties. In exploring “what if?” and “why not?” we start to see things differently. We see new solutions and understand that we are in fact part of those solutions.

For example, when we take on one small change, one small challenge, we start to talk about it, we share stories, and we inspire friends, colleagues, and people that we don't even know. In short, we expand our sphere of influence. Ripples become waves.

cCHALLENGE helps people to see where, why and how they make a difference. This opens up the solutions space for real and lasting change – including the systemic changes that are needed to create an equitable and sustainable world.
